Open Door Opens for Summer Season

Open Door Bird Sanctuary is gearing up for its third season open to the public. On Saturdays from June 23 to Sept. 1, the Sanctuary is open for visitors from 12-4 pm. An exciting program is held at 1 pm with optional guided trail hikes at 2:30 pm. As part of the holiday weekends they are also open July 1 and Sept. 3.

New this year is the Small Bird Mews which will get the sanctuary’s littlest residents outdoors and includes Ginger, an American kestrel new to the group. This summer also features a Celebrate Water program each month. This program revolves around the Sanctuary’s water-centric birds and highlights some special aspects of the property as well.

Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy before or after the show. Spend an afternoon taking in the resident birds of prey on exhibit, hands-on artifacts and the unique landscape. Programs are held rain or shine. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids. For more information visit opendoorbirdsanctuary.org.
