Open House at Garden Door

The Door County Master Gardeners Association (DCMG) will host an Open House July 14, 10 am – 1 pm, to celebrate the 14th anniversary of their free public display garden, The Garden Door. The garden is located on Highway 42 just north of Sturgeon Bay, on the grounds of the UW Peninsular Agricultural Research Station. The garden is accessible with paved walkways and parking is available.

While viewing the spectacular plantings this garden offers at the height of its summer beauty, open house visitors have the opportunity to visit with DCMG volunteers who are available to answer gardening questions. Guests can also enjoy a lemonade at the garden’s lemonade stand or purchase a cool frozen custard treat from Culver’s, with a portion of the proceeds returning to support the garden. Adding to the fun atmosphere is the eclectic Irish band, Bubble & Squeak.

Along with gorgeous floral displays, The Garden Door features a koi pond, gazebo, fairy garden, double kaleidoscope and a children’s play area. There is a butterfly garden, a wind and sound tunnel, and an ornamental grasses area. Just north of The Garden Door is a community vegetable garden, which will also offer visitors inspiration. The open house is free and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information visit dcmga.org.
