Opportunities for Kids at Rouge Theater

Rogue Theater and The Depot Performing Arts Center present “Great Americans” – a collection of patriotic speeches, quotes, songs and poems depicting the inspiring Americans who changed history – on May 23 and 24, 7:30 pm.

Many local artists, poets, musicians, actors and veterans make up the cast of this event. “Great Americans” include Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Amelia Earhart, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and others. Also included are poems by Walt Whitman and a variety of patriotic songs.

This is a show to be shared with children and grandchildren. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 students and free for children 6 and under.

To help bring dreams to life for children in our community, Rogue Theater has created a Children’s Theater Camp. Rogue’s dedicated performing artists will work with young people to develop their theatre arts skills and increase their creativity.

Theatre games and exercises will stretch students’ voices, bodies and minds. Open scenes and improvisation will help them to embody a character, identify obstacles and work to achieve an objective through a variety of tactics.

The Children’s Theater Camp, running June 24 to July 19, is for students ages 9 to 14. Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm at The Depot Performing Arts Center, 341 N. 3rd Ave., Sturgeon Bay. A public performance by the students will follow the final class on July 19. This performance will be an opportunity for students to share their work with family, friends and The Depot PAC community.

The cost of the program is $60. For more information or to register, call 920.818.0816 or email [email protected]. The Depot PAC is located at 341 N. 3rd Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
