In December 1989, the Dobson Opus 47 pipe organ was installed at Hope Church. On Dec. 7 at 2 pm, a 25th anniversary recital will be held in celebration of the important role this organ has played in the life of the congregation.
Sarah Mahler Kraaz, professor of music, college organist, and chair of the Music Department at Ripon College will be the recitalist. The program will include organ, instrumental, vocal, and congregational music for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. Guest musicians include Mary Hall and David Robertson. Music by J. S. Bach, Burkhardt, Buxtehude, Callahan, Dandrieu, Guilmant, Harmon, Lebègue, Liebergen, and Willcocks will be performed.
There is no admission fee; a freewill offering will be accepted. Light refreshments – including a cake made in the image of the organ – will be served following the recital. The church is located at 141 S.12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information visit hopechurchdc.org/organ-recital.
