Outdoor Activities at Peninsula State Park

Hikes to learn to identify animals from their tracks left in the snow and a candlelight ski are among the events being held at Peninsula State Park over the next few weeks.
On Jan. 24, take part in Animal Tracks and Signs on Hidden Bluff Trail from 11 – 11:45 am. Join the naturalist to decipher winter clues. The walk will be less than half a mile
The program on Jan. 31 will be Winter Hideaways from 11 – 11:45 am. Not all animals migrate south. This family program explores how animals survive winter, with a special focus on whistle pigs. Then, from 5 – 8 pm, join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes for a night of candlelight fun. Ski, hike or snowshoe candle-lite trails at the park. Ski among the forested dunes for 1.5 miles. Hike or snowshoe a 1.5-mile loop. Warm up in the shelter building with hot beverage and fresh popcorn. Visit the nature center for delicious baked goods and new exhibits. Limited number of snowshoes will be available. This is a free event.
Most events are held at the Nature Center. Many events also involve outdoor activities so participants should dress for the weather. All events are free but a state park admission sticker is needed for entrance to the park. Some events could be cancelled due to inclement weather.
