Peninsula School of Art Invites Artists to Submit Work

Artists and art appreciators mingle during the 2010 Salon at Guenzel Gallery party.

Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek is inviting all 2- and 3-D artists – from beginner to master – to participate in the 9th annual Salon at Guenzel Gallery, which will be on exhibit from Jan. 7 through Jan. 22.

Artwork for display and sale will be accepted on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 5 and 6, from 9 am – 4 pm at the school. The cost to enter one piece is $15, for two pieces it costs $25, and for three pieces the cost is $30. Works previously shown in the Guenzel Gallery are not eligible.

For the first time, the 2011 exhibit will include the Salon at Guenzel Gallery People’s Choice Awards, a competition for recognition and cash prizes. On the final night of the exhibition, attendees will vote for their favorite works.

In recent years, over 150 works have been displayed, with art filling the walls of the school’s Guenzel Gallery in authentic salon, floor-to-ceiling style. In addition to the announcement of the new awards, the Salon party, held at the school on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 6 – 9 pm will offer complementary refreshments, live entertainment, and readings of original works by local poets. The party and exhibition are free and open to the public.
