Photography by Jeff Pearcy at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Gallery

Precious Life: Photography by Jeff Pearcy is on exhibit now in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County’s (UUFDC) gallery.

A Unitarian photographer, Pearcy worked for eight years with the Pan-African Rural Health and Social Services, documenting people in poverty. For four years, he focused on a struggling hospital in a small village called Fallay Wuljah, which depends on donated equipment, supplies, medicine and medical volunteers.

“One way of viewing these photos is the devastation and limitations created by the lack of supplies and equipment,” Pearcy said. “But I prefer to view them as an expression of extraordinary hope provided in a desperately poor country by this hospital and the caring staff.”

The gallery is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 1-4 pm, and during 10 am Sunday service. Pearcy’s exhibit is on display through March.

UUFDC is located at 10341 Water St. (Hwy 42) in Ephraim.
