Pioneer Girls Seeded No. 2 in WIAA D5 Tourney

Sevastopol’s girls basketball team has received a No. 2 seed in the WIAA Division 5 tournament and will host its regional quarterfinal game Feb. 20 at 7 pm against No. 15-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas.

The quarterfinal winner will advance to the semifinal round Feb. 23 at 7 pm to face the quarterfinal winner between No. 7-seeded Niagara and No. 10-seeded Gibraltar, with the highest remaining seed hosting the game.

The other half of the Division 5 regional bracket includes quarterfinal games Feb. 20 between No. 3-seeded Wabeno/Laona and No. 14-seeded Goodman/Pembine as well as No. 6-seeded Gillett and No. 11-seeded Wausaukee.

The semifinal winners will face each other in the regional championship game Feb. 24 at 7 pm, with the highest remaining seed hosting the game.

The Pioneers are coming off a 50-39 non-conference victory Saturday in Oshkosh against Wabeno/Laona, the next highest seed in their regional tournament bracket.
