Pioneers Sweep Softball Twin Bill at Kewaunee

Sevastopol’s softball team won both games of Friday’s Packerland Conference doubleheader at Kewaunee.

The Pioneers defeated the Storm in game one, 7-2.

Libby Ash pitched all seven innings to record the victory, scattering six hits and striking out three.

At the plate, Ash tallied two hits with a run scored. Jolene Luedtke added two hits with two runs scored and a run driven in.

Sevastopol won game two in five innings, 12-2.

Ash tossed the entire game to pick up the win, allowing four hits and no earned runs with a strikeout.

The Pioneers’ leading hitters in the second game included: Claire Haberli, 2-2 with a double, 2 RBI and two runs scored; Ash, 2-2, 2 RBI and three runs scored; Addison Schauske 3-4 with a double; Naomi Rikkola, 2-4 with a triple; and Bailey Rikkola, 3-3, 2 RBI and two runs scored.

Sevastopol – which improved to 7-3 in the Packerland to be in second place, three games behind league-leading Peshtigo at 10-0 – hosts a conference doubleheader Tuesday against Oconto.
