Play the Little and Big Cups for Ed Strege Family Memorial Fund

Two upcoming memorial golf tournaments celebrate the life of Door County local Edward Strege by playing the game he loved. All skill levels are invited with “little” and “big” events in Ephraim.

Red Putter Mini Golf will host the second annual Little Eddie Little Cup on Sept. 26 and Peninsula State Park Golf Course will host the second annual Little Eddie Big Cup Golf Scramble on Sept. 27. Fundraising from both events will benefit the Mental Health Awareness Fund held by the Door County Community Foundation to promote mental health awareness in Door County and the Ed Strege Family Memorial Fund, to benefit Ed’s widow and young son. Between the two events, organizers have set a goal of raising $15,000.

The Little Cup is a two-round partner tournament. You may bring a partner or organizers will set you up with one. Best combined score wins. Prizes include Red Putter swag and more. Competition begins at 5 pm. Cost is $15 per person. Participants may register by emailing [email protected] or in person at the Red Putter.

The next morning’s event will include an 18-hole big cup golf scramble with cart, raffles and door prizes at Peninsula State Park Golf Course. Tee off is 9 am. In true Eddie spirit, retro golf apparel is encouraged. There will be a prize for best dressed, along with best facial hair. The tournament is a four-person scramble, limited to the first 36 foursomes. Lunch to follow at Alexander’s in Fish Creek. Cost is $100 per player or $50 for Peninsula Golf Course Pass Holders. Email [email protected] for a registration form or call Ivan Bridenhagen at 920.370.7934. For more information, find “Ed Strege Memorial Golf Tournament” on Facebook.

The Big Cup is still looking for hole sponsors, raffle donations and volunteers. Email [email protected] or call Rachel at 612.799.2679 to contribute in any way.
