Poetry Performance at Woodwalk

R. Virgil (Ron) Ellis will be performing his electrifying verse at Woodwalk Gallery on Saturday, September 13.

Ellis lives near Cambridge, Wisconsin and is Associate Editor of Rosebud Magazine. He is no stranger to performing and had also produced audio cassettes, CD’s, and DVD’s of his work. He uses his voice, musical instruments, and a video backdrop to present a total performance. A one man Capital Steps would be an apt description. Also on the bill are several Door County writers.

Ellis’ chapbook Bone Flute is published by Parallel Press, Madison. He has given readings and performances in New York, Chicago, Salt Lake City, and other locations. Garrison Keiller read his poetry on the NPR program, The Writers Almanac. Ellis’ twice-monthly broadcast, The Dangerous Olds Listening Hour, aired on Madison’s WORT FM from 1991-2002. An Emeritus Professor who taught writing and literature at UW-Whitewater, he has a Web site: http://www.poetrvellis.com.

Nancy Rafal, Baileys Harbor writer, attended the performance Ellis gave at the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets spring conference earlier this year. “This man tells it like it is and adeptly juggles visuals for a total impact,” was her enthusiastic appraisal of the event.

Woodwalk is located at 6746 County Road G, Egg Harbor in a 1890’s restored barn. The performance will begin at 7 pm. There is a $10 admission charge.
