Registration is now open for Door Community Auditorium’s (DCA) Kaleidoscope Day Camp. Kids with an interest in performing will have a chance to experience theater in a whole new way at this day camp. Kaleidoscope takes place from June 18 – 22 on the DCA stage.

This weeklong performance experience is designed to provide up to 30 kids (ages 9 to 13) with new creative outlets through lessons in movement exploration, vocal techniques and imaginative drama. Experienced educators Marise Redmann, Lauren Gilmore and Lizbeth Thomas will collaboratively teach the activities.

Daily activities include movement exercises (designed to give kids a sense of space and control of their bodies), vocal exercises (which will teach kids to use their voices safely and effectively), and theater games and imagination exercises (including pantomime, improvisation, storytelling, and role-playing).

In Kaleidoscope’s cooperative, nurturing environment, students will develop not only essential performance skills, but also skills in communication, problem-solving, and social awareness. The students will participate in “Fractured Fairytales,” a performance incorporating the techniques they’ve learned during the week for friends and family.

The cost is $199 per student and includes five days of classes from 8:30 am to 3 pm and healthy daily snacks. Class size is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
