RIDE4KIDS Celebration at Sturgeon Bay YMCA

The Door County Medical Center’s RIDE4KIDS program, led by exercise physiologist Adam Peronto; and the 2019 Leadership Door County Class will host the RIDE4KIDS celebration and gifting ceremony Oct. 29, 5:45 pm, at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA.

RIDE4KIDS is an adaptive group-play program for children with cognitive, sensory and physical disabilities that focuses on developing movement and social skills. The group challenges the children’s motor system through 20 adaptive game stations. Each child receives individual attention from a high school volunteer who is paired with the child to provide instruction, encouragement and support. This design promotes inclusion, reduces stigma and assists in developing social skills. At capacity, RIDE4KIDS will partner with seven area school districts and three local wellness centers. The 2019 Leadership Door County Class is proud to support this worthwhile program by connecting with public and private grant organizations and philanthropic individuals to raise more than $8,000 to purchase needed, new adaptive equipment.
