Root Beer Fest Is Fun for the Whole Family

The Door County Historical Society will host its eighth annual Root Beer Festival – its largest fundraiser of the year – on July 9, 10 am – 3 pm, at Heritage Village at Big Creek, which is next to Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.

Enjoy root beer tastings, root beer floats, food by Smokin’ Tom’s Team BBQ, and blacksmithing and tool demonstrations at the Madden Tool Museum. Other historical displays, potato-sack races, a chance to win some of the featured root beers, a cake walk, live music and more will make this a fun time for the whole family.

The root beer flights will include Sprecher, Baumeister, SnoCap and Potosi varieties. After tasting, visitors will be able to vote for their favorite root beer by putting coins or bills into that root beer’s designated jar. Whichever variety receives the most money wins.

Admission is $5 at the door for adults, and donations are appreciated for children 17 and younger. Food, floats and raffle tickets are available for an extra cost.
