Roots for Roots Benefits Forest Recovery Project

The inaugural event – Roots for Roots – of the Forest Recovery Project is July 4 at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. The event includes a potluck supper with cash bar at 5:30 pm, and music by Galynne Goodwill at 6:30 pm and Tony Brown from 7 – 9 pm. There is a $10 suggested donation.

Brown is a longtime friend of Door County, and has played here for many years (Tony Brown and the Landing Crew), although not recently. Brown has played music professionally since he was 8 years old, and has shared the stage with some amazing people including the enduring Bob Marley.

The Forest Recovery Project is an initiative to do stewardship work in the native forests in Door County. Ultimately, work would involve anything beneficial to restoring forests to their stable old-growth status, such as tree planting, tree release, invasive species work and stewardship training.

This first phase will focus on tree planting in public places, and Roots for Roots will establish a fund for this purpose. $300 will buy a nice nursery tree that people might enjoy in a park or that same money will get you numerous bare root seedlings to plant.
