“Sara Food Drive” Begins in Kewaunee

The 6th annual “Giving for Sara Food Drive” has begun. The Kewaunee County Department of Human Services is asking the local community for their involvement to the help feed Kewaunee County by making a donation. The fundraiser to stock the shelves at food pantries across Kewaunee County is in the memory of Sara Malay, who was serving as the Aging Services Unit Director in the Department of Human Services for Kewaunee County when she unexpectedly died on Oct. 7, 2013.

“Sara was a woman with a passion for helping others and bringing joy to their lives,” said Jodi Vandervest, Adult Services Worker, Kewaunee County Department of Human Services. “Sara made sure that residents of Kewaunee County had access to good nutrition, especially the seniors.”

Kewaunee County Human Services is also collecting paper and personal hygiene products and accepting monetary donations. Those who wish to write out a check, should make it out to Kewaunee County and drop it off at the Kewaunee County Department Human Services, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm.

For every donation, donors can put an ornament on a Christmas tree in the Human Services lobby. Ornaments are provided or bring your own. Donations can be made now through Dec. 31, 2018. For more information call 920.388.7030.
