The search is on during a variety of programs at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.
On Sept. 6 at 10 am and Sept. 10 at 4 pm, learn the natural history and some folklore about the wildflowers in the prairie plantings of Crossroads during “In Search of Compass Plants.”
On Sept. 8, a Family Nature Scavenger Hunt will be held at 4 pm. Learn about insects by participating in this family hunt for “leaf miners,” galls and “skeletonizers” – the insect evidence on stems and leaves. People without families are also welcome.
These programs are free and open to the public.
A meeting of the Friends of Crossroads takes place on Sept. 9 at 6:30 pm. Visitors (especially potential volunteers) are welcome at this monthly meeting.
Crossroads is a donor-supported preserve welcoming learners of all ages. The Collins Learning Center is open 2 – 4:30 pm daily; trails are open at all times. For more information visit crossroadsatbigcreek.com.
