Shakespeare Performed in Peninsula State Park July 17

Summit Players Theatre – a Wisconsin-based traveling theater company – will perform Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing on July 17 at Peninsula State Park as one of 23 performances in Wisconsin state parks until Aug. 20.

A 45-minute educational workshop, “Inside Shakespeare’s Story: Much Ado About Nothing” is new this year and will be offered at 1 pm, preceding the 75-minute performance at 2:30 pm

The workshop helps kids and adults to get comfortable with the play, Shakespeare’s language and the way nature plays into his works. Participants play Shakespeare games and exercises that culminate in performing a short scene.

All shows are free, in keeping with the company’s mission of creating Shakespeare that anyone can afford, attend and understand. Through a collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Summit Players are also able to introduce audiences to their state parks.
