Ship Canal Dinner Program

The Door County Historical Society will host its monthly dinner program, “Digging of the Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan Ship Canal,” presented by Captain Robert (Bob) Desh, on Aug. 27, 6 pm at the Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor.

The program focuses on the creation of the Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan Ship Canal. The building of the canal is one of the most important events in the storied maritime history of the Door Peninsula. This unique waterway facilitated the passage of tens of thousands of ships and permanently shaped the economy and culture of the entire region.

The Landmark Resort will host an Italian pasta buffet with fettuccine, penne, Alfredo, marinara, meat sauces, gnocchi, vegetables, garlic bread, tossed salad, cookies, coffee and iced tea.

Make reservations by sending payment to the Door County Historical Society, PO Box 71, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. The cost of the dinner and program is $25 for guests and $21 for members.
