Why not stay active and social during a chilly winter? The Clearing Folk School is offering more than 80 classes in its annual two-month long Winter Program, and the Winter Open House on Dec. 10 & 11, from 10 am to 4 pm, is the perfect time to register. Classes start Jan. 4 and run through Feb. 26. These adult, daytime classes are being offered again in the arts, fine crafts, natural sciences and humanities, including some half-day and one-day classes. A group of local volunteer instructors generously share their time and considerable talent in this 40-year annual tradition of life-long learning opportunities in the heart of winter.
Classes are published online at theclearing.org and catalogs are available at the The Clearing’s Jens Jensen Visitor Center during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 am – 4 pm. Registrations are accepted online, in person (come to the Open House) or through the mail prior to the “lottery” deadline date of Dec. 16. Registrations continue to be accepted up to the start date of classes. Come to the free, community Open House at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center at 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay and enjoy homemade mulled cider and holiday treats while cozying up to the crackling fire. The Clearing’s indoor Christmas forest is also a delight for the senses. Everyone’s welcome.
