Sister Bay planning centennial celebration

• The Village of Sister Bay will celebrate the centennial of its incorporation as a village in 2012 with events honoring the history of the village’s people and businesses.

A committee has been formed to plan events for the celebration and is seeking persons interested in helping with planning and volunteers for working on events. The committee meets every other Monday at 4 pm in the small meeting room in the Sister Bay Fire Station. Anyone interested is invited to attend. The next meeting will be held July 25.

A weekend celebration is being planned, along with historical presentations at the Village Hall and at the Corner of the Past Museum throughout the summer of 2012. If you have ideas for the centennial but cannot attend a meeting contact Fred Johnson at 920.854.9247.

• The Democratic Party of Door County will host its annual meeting at Sawyer Park in Sturgeon Bay July 28. The meeting, featuring an appearance by Nancy Nusbaum, candidate for State Senate District 2, begins at 5 pm and will feature food and soft drinks.
