Sister Bay Seeks Feedback on Comprehensive Plan

The Village of Sister Bay is hosting an interactive open house at the Fire Station, 2258 Mill Road, on Saturday, Jan. 13, 9 am – 1 pm to take public feedback on key elements of its comprehensive plan, such as transportation, land use, agriculture and more.

Wisconsin’s Smart Growth law, adopted in 1999, required that local governments craft plans to guide land-use decisions. Sister Bay completed its first plan in 2003, and is now preparing an update with assistance from Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission.

Julie Schmelzer, village administrator, said the village isn’t redrafting its zoning code at this time, but after the new land-use maps are updated, the zoning code is supposed to reflect the needs and issues identified in the new land-use plan.
