Snowmobile Crash Claims Life of Sevastopol Graduate


A 1992 Sevastopol High School graduate died Saturday night when he crashed his snowmobile into trees about two miles south of Lake Tomahawk, according to a release from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.

Matthew S. Martens, 44, of Green Bay was driving his snowmobile on the trail off of Lyannas Road and Highway 47 in the Town of Lake Tomahawk when his snowmobile left the trail and struck trees. Martens died at the scene of the crash. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is completing the accident report.

According to the DNR, this is the ninth snowmobile-related fatality in Wisconsin this winter. There were 14 fatalities during the 2017-18 winter.
