Pioneers Defeat Patriots in Non-League Softball

Sevastopol’s softball team picked up an 8-4 non-conference victory at home Thursday against Goodman/Pembine.

Winning pitcher Addison Schauske tossed three innings, allowing a hit while striking out five.

Leading hitters for the Pioneers included: Kayla Ranly, 1-2, 2 walks, 1 double, 1 run; Jolene Luedtke, 2-3, 1 walk, 2 runs, 1 double; Alaina Schopf, 1-2, 2 runs, 1 walk, 1 RBI, 1 double; and Claire Haberli, 2-3, 2 RBI, 1 double.

Sevastopol, which is 2-0 overall, hosts a Packerland Conference doubleheader Saturday against Gibraltar with the first game set for 11 am.

Eagles Tame Tigers

Southern Door’s softball team recorded its first victory of the season after winning Thursday in five innings at Wrightstown, 15-3.

The Eagles, who tallied 18 hits, got three hits each from Callie Miller and Chloe Lustila, with two hits apiece coming from Sophia Counard, Ashlyn Delfosss and Payton Gilbertson.

Delfosse recorded the pitching after tossing four innings with four strikeouts.

Southern Door, which improved to 1-1 overall, plays a conference doubleheader Saturday at Algoma, where the first game has ben moved up to a 10 am start.
