Sounds of Bluegrass at Camp Zion

The sounds of bluegrass music will fill the air this June at Camp Zion, north of Ellison Bay. “Bluegrass Camp on Door Bluff” is open to all June 13 – 15. In addition, the public is invited to attend a free concert by Fairland Bluegrass Band on June 14 at 7 pm, held at Camp Zion, 12701 Door Bluff Road in Ellison Bay. Following the concert, any and all musicians can bring their instruments and join in on the twilight jam following the concert.

“We’ve wanted to offer a bluegrass camp for some time. It has been fun partnering with Dan Rass of Fairland Bluegrass of Sturgeon Bay and Lloyd Michalsen of Sister Bay as we prepared for this bluegrass retreat at Camp Zion”, said Camp Director Dale Stewart.

Highlights include workshops and song circles led by Rass and other local musicians. Students will have the opportunity to play, listen, enjoy and learn bluegrass. Also, student mix-and-match bands will perform at the Fairland Bluegrass concert.

Retreat participants must register in advance as soon as possible. The Saturday evening concert is free and open to the public. More details and registration information are available at campzion.com, or by calling 920.854.2790.
