Stage Door Presents “The Glass Menagerie”

Kay Allmand and Ryan Schabach in “The Glass Menagerie.”

The Stage Door Theatre Company, the professional theatre troupe in residence at the Third Avenue Playhouse presents its first production of the 2013 summer/fall season, Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. This production will feature an original musical score by its director James Valcq, composer of The Spitfire Grill and the current American Folklore Theater production of Victory Farm. The cast includes veterans of both Stage Door and Door Shakespeare: Ryan Schabach as Tom Wingfield, Kay Allmand as his sister Laura, and Ryan Patrick Shaw as Jim O’Connor – the Gentleman Caller. Claire Morkin rounds out the cast in the role of Amanda Wingfield, the mother of Tom and Laura.

The Glass Menagerie was Williams’s first popular success and launched the brilliant career of one of America’s finest playwrights. More than fifty years after telling his story of a family and the memory of one particular time in their lives, Williams’s mellifluous voice still resonates deeply and universally with humor and pathos.

The Glass Menagerie will be performed Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 pm, and also at 2 pm on Sundays. A special performance will be held on July 2 at 7:30 pm. There is no performance on July 4.

Tickets are $22 general admission, $10 students (12 – 24-years-old), and $5 children (11-years-old & younger). For tickets, visit ThirdAvenuePlayhouse.com, call 920.743.1760 or stop by the box office at 239 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
