Story Slam Tickets on Sale March 15

The Tales of Our Lives Story Slam is back. Tickets for the hallmark event of the Women’s Fund of Door County go on sale March 15. The 11th annual story slam takes place Saturday, April 20 at Northern Sky’s Gould Theater.

“Northern Sky Theater is honored to partner with the Women’s Fund of  Door County for their Tales of Our Lives event this year,” said Holly  Feldman, managing director at Northern Sky Theater. “I’ve been attending  the event annually and was a ‘slammer’ for the first Tales of Our Lives. Our mutual commitment to storytelling is a perfect match for Northern Sky Theater, and we can’t wait to witness these beautiful stories in our Gould Theater.”

As in previous years, five storytellers will take the stage to share their  stories. Each tale will be accompanied by the music of Cathy Grier and will  revolve around a unique experience, relationship, or life lesson that has  left a profound mark.

“Storytelling is such a powerful tool that helps us understand one  another,” said Markie Bscherer, Tales of Our Lives chair, and Women’s Fund of Door County board member. “This year’s storytellers take us on a  powerful journey weaving strength, resilience, and hope into every story.”

This year’s storytellers include:

Georgina Saunderson Hatch: Saunderson Hatch’s story begins when she was a young girl growing up in Jamaica and continues to present day as a mother with two children with special needs.

• Allison Haus: Haus will tell a story about unexpected events that completely changed the course of her life while working on her post-doctorate in France.

• Katie Dahl: Dahl will reflect on her adolescence and the grief she holds onto after learning to accept her feelings as a young adult.

• Mel Ripp: Taking the stage for the third time, Ripp shares a journal excerpt from when she was 22 years old and in graduate school.

• Jewel Peterson Ouradnik: Peterson Ouradnik tells a story about growing up on her family’s resort in Rowley’s Bay, which she and her husband owned until a devastating fire in 2023. She recounts that harrowing day and the difficult decision to ultimately sell the resort.

Storytelling begins at 7 pm followed by a reception.

Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased directly from Northern Sky Theater’s Box Office beginning March 15.
