Streu and Van De Ven Featured

“Coneflower,” watercolor, by Mary Streu.

For the week of July 26, painters Mary Streu and Elizabeth Van De Ven will be featured at the Gallery of the Door County Art League, located in the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek.

Van De Ven, who proudly says she has been painting for 72 years, beginning at the age of eight, works in several different mediums, oil, watercolor, acrylic, and enamels. Van De Ven says, “I think art is the most interesting thing in the world, and the people you meet are great.”

Streu, who works in watercolor and acrylic and gouache, has been painting for about seven years. She enjoys stretching her own canvases, which allows her to vary the sizes of her creations. Streu likes to work in the early morning and says that her art “is fulfilling when it turns out, and it has really taught me to look at things more closely.
