Student Accepted at Birch Creek

Sevastopol High School student and flautist Samantha Spohn will attend the Symphony session at Birch Creek Music Performance Center from June 29 to July 12.

A member of the Sevastopol High School band, the 2014 Wisconsin FFA Honors Band and the National FFA Band, Spohn auditioned for one of two positions available at Birch Creek for this year’s concert season. She recently received the Director’s Choice Award at her school and directed the school’s pep band.

The application and auditioning process for students applying to Birch Creek is challenging. Spohn initially applied in mid-February and was eventually accepted at the end of May. As required to demonstrate her musical talents, she submitted an audition recording, which was reviewed by Birch Creek faculty. All Symphony students perform concerts alongside their instructors and must possess the skills to keep up with a demanding repertoire. For more information visit birchcreek.org.
