The Music of Carole King Comes to TAP

Tapestries: The Music of Carole King will be performed April 18 – 28 at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay. Directed and conceived by James Valcq, the show features Amy Ensign, Claire Morkin, Alissa Rhode and Craig McClelland.

Valcq has woven together many of King’s most famous songs, as well as some not as well known, to create an original musical revue of one of pop music’s most prolific singer/songwriters.

King wrote her first #1 hit at the age of 17, penning “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” for The Shirelles with then-husband Gerry Goffin. She went on to write hits for many other recording artists: The Drifters (“Up On The Roof”), Little Eva (“Locomotion”), Bobby Vee (“Take Good Care of My Baby”), The Chiffons (“One Fine Day”), and The Monkees (“Pleasant Valley Sunday”).

King’s first solo album, Tapestry, won the Grammy Awards for record, song and album of the year. With more than 25 million units sold, Tapestry remained the best selling album by a female artist for over 25 years after its release.

Performances will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. A special Saturday matinee is scheduled for April 27 at 2 pm.

Tickets are $22 general admission, $10 students, and $5 children (11-years-old and younger).
