Tickets on Sale for Sunset Cruise with Friends of Plum and Pilot Island

The Friends of Plum and Pilots Islands (FOPPI) have announced that tickets are on sale for this year’s Sunset Cruise set for July 15. Cruise passengers will board the Island Clipper in Gills Rock at 6 pm and enjoy a three-hour cruise that features close-up views of Plum and Pilot Islands. Cruise tickets are priced at $100 per person and include food and drinks, and live musical entertainment featuring songwriter and Washington Island native Julian Hagen. Also, FOPPI volunteers will be on hand to point out features of interest on the islands and surrounding waters. The cruise is a fundraising activity to support FOPPI’s mission of preserving the historic structures on the islands and the maritime history that they embody. “Last year’s cruise was a fun and wonderful evening. Best of all the money raised contributed greatly to our ability to complete the renovation of the dock and enhance public access to Plum Island,” said Tim Sweet, FOPPI President. He noted that, “2017 is FOPPI’s 10th anniversary year and even bigger projects are in the works. So, of course, financial needs continue to grow.” Sweet also confirmed that each ticket includes a one-year membership in the Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands. Memberships of current members who purchase tickets will be automatically renewed. Tickets may be purchased online at plumandpilot.org. Credit cards are accepted.
