Today Show Lauds Door County

Door County was included as one of the best destinations in the U.S. for fall foliage getaways in a travel story that aired earlier this month on NBC’s Today Show.

Travel + Leisure magazine’s International Editor Mark Orwoll chatted about Door County with Today Show host Amy Robach during a travel story interview about top fall foliage destinations that aired on the Saturday, Oct. 3, episode of the popular NBC morning show.

Door County was the only Midwest destination that was highlighted and one of only a handful of destinations across the country that were included in the travel story interview that featured the best fall foliage getaways across the U.S.

Orwoll mentioned the area’s harvest festivals, lighthouses, shoreline, state parks, fresh produce and farmers’ markets as wonderful attributes about traveling to Door County during the fall. Beautiful video of fall scenes and foliage played as he talked with Robach about this destination being the thumb of Wisconsin that sticks out into Lake Michigan.

Jon Jarosh, the Door County Visitor Bureau’s Director of Communications and Public Relations, worked with Travel + Leisure  officials and Today Show producers in the weeks leading up to the Oct. 3 broadcast. He provided Door County video, images, fall information and other supporting assistance to help secure Door County’s inclusion in the travel story interview.

“It’s a great honor and a tribute to the quality of the destination experience we offer here in Door County to be featured on a national media outlet like NBC’s Today Show,” Jarosh said. “The rest of the country got a glimpse at how beautiful Door County is this time of year…something many folks in the Midwest already know.”

This national media exposure comes at the beginning of Door County’s peak fall travel season. Fall colors are expected to be at their most brilliant over the next 2-3 weeks and many popular fall festivals and other events are also scheduled over the same time span.
