Tricks of the Trade – An Inside Scoop

Landscape gardeners Kristen Peil and Caleb Whitney of Green Side Up LLP have learned a lot the hard way since starting their Door County business in 1998. The public is invited to Crossroads at Big Creek on March 2 at 7 pm to benefit from their collective experience maximizing the seasonal interest of their commercial and high-end residential gardens.

These professional gardeners really know their stuff, having presented seminars at the Garden Expo in Madison and to the Oneida County Master Gardeners, as well as being featured in such diverse media outlets as the Duluth Trading Catalog and Wisconsin Public Television’s Wisconsin Gardener program hosted by Shelley Ryan.

During the first hour, attendees will be inspired by a virtual tour of their terrific four-season commercial and high-end residential landscape gardens. Then guests can learn what it takes to get the job done building a fantastic garden – everything from site preparation, to perennial pruning, to tool selection and modification. The final part of the program gives attendees a chance to virtually experience each step in the process of planting funky containers and installing a “garden theater.” There will be lots of opportunities for questions and answers.
