United Way of Door County has received a Sustainability Grant from the Door County Community Foundation for STRIDE, a collaborative school mental-health project. STRIDE comprises the county’s five public-school districts, plus seven mental-health agencies and United Way of Door County. The group’s goal is to assess quality mental-health treatments for area youth.
The Emergency Response Fund has also awarded a grant to The Ridges Sanctuary for UV germicidal air purifiers to place in its nature center, which is an important educational hub. With increases in vaccinations, fewer visitors are wearing masks at the nature center, so The Ridges’ staff is focused on the health of children younger than 12, who are not yet eligible for vaccinations. The air purifiers eliminate airborne allergens and viruses, making it safer for children to return to the facility.
