Updated flu and COVID vaccines now available by appointment

Door County – Door County Public Health (DCPH) has adult immunization clinics available for seasonal influenza (flu) and COVID-19 vaccines throughout the County in October and November. DCPH served Washington Island last week and has its first mainland clinic Oct. 10.

New this year, appointments are required and online scheduling is available. Visit co.door.wi.gov/Clinics or call 920.746.2234 to schedule. These vaccines are the latest formulations for 2023-2024.

DCPH offers Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, which are approved regardless of the vaccine brand a person previously received. Flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given at the same time.

There are several changes as to who is eligible for free COVID-19 vaccines from DCPH this year. For the past three years, COVID-19 was declared a national emergency, so health departments had federal funding for mass distribution of vaccines to the general public. As the health emergency has expired, now there are select criteria of who is eligible to receive the vaccine through DCPH for free – primarily those with Medicaid/BadgerCare+, traditional Medicare Part B without a supplement, or United Healthcare Medicare Advantage. Outside of those coverages, the vaccine is available for purchase at DCPH and receipts are provided to allow individuals to submit to other insurance companies. The out-of- pocket cost for a standard-dose influenza (flu) vaccine is $40; a high-dose influenza vaccine is $75; and the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is $120.

For adults 19 and older who are uninsured or have insurance that doesn’t cover vaccines, please call DCPH to schedule at 920.746.2234.

DCPH serves eligible children during regular Wednesday clinics. Further, through a special state program, DCPH is able to

provide free flu vaccines to children in grades six-12 during regular Wednesday clinics, by appointment. Call or schedule online.
