Updates Coming for Sister Bay’s Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan

Interim Sister Bay Administrator Diane Wesel has applied for grants from the Bay Lakes Regional Planning Commission to assist with two major initiatives. The board decided to split 40 hours of assistance from the commission between two projects: updating the village’s Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) and creating a conceptual plan for the 56 acres commonly referred to as the Wiltse property – adjacent to the sports complex – that the village purchased in 2019.

The CORP update is needed for the village to qualify to apply to several grant programs such as Stewardship Local Assistance, the Land and Water Conservation Fund and recreational trails program grants. The existing CORP also does not include the Wiltse property.

The village also approved the plan commission’s recommendation to annex the Wiltse property from the Town of Liberty Grove. The village’s long-term plans for the property include consolidating village facilities, providing space for workforce housing and potentially expanding recreational opportunities. The board has asked the ad hoc committee investigating options for the property to forward a recommendation by the end of April.
