Valmy Thresheree Returns This Weekend

The 38th Valmy Thresheree and Tractor Pull returns Aug. 20-22 to the Northeast Wisconsin Antique Power Association Grounds, 5005 Country View Road, Sturgeon Bay. The Valmy Thresheree has become a popular event in Door County for the whole family with activities and refreshments for everyone.

The first night the gates open at 6pm. There will be food and refreshments available along with live music by Glas Hamr, 7-11 pm. Threshing machines, sawmill, blacksmith shop, stone crusher, hit and miss engines and more are on display.

On Saturday, make sure to come early as the festivities kick off at 7 am with a pancake breakfast. Other activities include a chainsaw competition, tractor pull, barn dance and a polka mass. Kids can also enjoy bouncy houses throughout the day. Modern Day Drifters rock out from 8 pm – 12 am. The Sturgeon Bay Historical Society will also be on-site Saturday, 9 am – 3 pm, and Sunday, 9:30 am – 2 pm, recording oral histories as part of the Door County Library’s ‘Door County Speaks’ program. Bring copies of pictures to share if you have them.

Sunday starts off at 8:30 am with a Lutheran church service. Following the service there will be a kids tractor pull, little farmer dress up contest and games, along with Champion Garden Tractor Pull and Cavalcade of Power Sunday afternoon followed by mud pig wrestling.

Vendors, food, live music and refreshments are available all weekend. Admission is $5 per day or $10 for the weekend that comes with a souvenir button. Children 12 and younger are free. For more information, visit valmythresheree.org.
