View the Night Sky at Crossroads

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will host a night-sky viewing experience – whether it’s clear or overcast – on Feb. 26, 7 pm, at the Astronomy Campus of Crossroads at Big Creek. If it’s clear, society members will be in the Star Garden with telescopes and astronomical binoculars. In the event of bad viewing conditions, they’ll offer an indoor program.

Crossroads will host A Walk with Aldo on March 5, starting at 10 am. Visitors are welcome to stop by anytime until dark to walk the route marked with green ribbons and read quotations from Aldo Leopold’s writings posted at intervals along the trail.

Documentaries featuring Door County environmentalists will also be screened in the Collins Learning Center. At 2 pm, Crossroads will show the Wisconsin Public Television documentary Emma Toft: At One with Nature. This video tells of one of Door County’s environmental pioneers and her willingness to fight for and protect the land she loved. The WPT program Hometown Stories: Door County will be screened at 3 pm.

Ski for Free will continue every Saturday, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm, and Sunday, 12:30-3:30 pm, weather permitting. Friends of Crossroads and volunteers from Door County Silent Sports will help participants find the correct sizes of skis, boots, poles, snowshoes and kicksleds.

Masks are recommended inside buildings at Crossroads at Big Creek (crossroadsatbigcreek.org), 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.
