Vikings Fall to Maroons in Boys Hoops

Gibraltar’s boys basketball team trailed by nine points at halftime Tuesday and ended up losing a non-conference home game to Menominee, Michigan, 76-59.

The Vikings had two players score in double figures led by Jake Schar with 25 points. Will Friedenfels added 13 points.

Trevor Theuerkauf led three Maroon players in double figures with a game-high 26 points.

Up next for Gibraltar, which is 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the Packerland Conference, is a league game Friday at Southern Door.

Clippers Clobbered by Blue Bombers

Sturgeon’s Bay’s boys basketball team jumped out to an early 12-6 lead Tuesday, but then fell behind by 21 points at halftime and ended up losing a non-conference game at Kohler, 102-78.

Isaak Aune was the Clippers’ only player to score in double figures with a game-high 32 points.

Jalen Paul led five Blue Bomber players in double figures with 30 points.

Sturgeon Bay (4-7, 2-3) next hosts a Packerland contest Thursday night against Algoma, when former Clippers head coach Jim Benesh, who passed away last February, will be honored before the game.
