Volunteers Needed for Midwest Crane Count

The Ridges is seeking volunteers to participate in the 41st Annual Midwest Crane Count on April 16, 5:30 to 7:30 am. Join volunteers from across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan to monitor the return of cranes to their northern breeding grounds. Counters are needed to survey on designated sites throughout Door County. No previous experience is needed. After completing the fieldwork, volunteers will enjoy coffee and donuts at The Ridges Nature Center, 8166 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor. Hikers can explore the early spring landscape of Logan Creek with a Ridges naturalist on April 17 at 2 pm. Owned and managed by The Ridges, the Logan Creek property is comprised of a variety of habitats, including upland hardwood forest, lowland cedar-hemlock forest and frontage along both Clark Lake and Logan Creek. Wear good hiking boots and meet at the Logan Creek trailhead, 5724 Loritz Road. Adult fees are $5 for Ridges members and $8 for the general public. Children and students under 18 hike free.
