Waite and Miller Knutson Offer Artistic Demonstrations

Two Door County-based artists, working in diverse media, will appear at Door County Interiors & Design in Egg Harbor, from 11 am – 4 pm on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Jerry Waite, a wood carver, and Karin Miller Knutson, painter –both of Sturgeon Bay – will show new work and demonstrate how they create it. The Cana Island Lighthouse will be a theme for the day-long event.

Waite will unveil a new limited edition Cana Island Lighthouse wood ornament. The wood carver depicts a frontal view of the lighthouse and the keeper’s house. The colors of the six-inch ornament are true to the original structure.

During his appearance at the home furnishings store and design center, Waite will demonstrate basswood carving of the lighthouse’s tower and do detailing of the tower and the keeper’s house.

Miller Knutson depicts lighthouses and other subject matter in her paintings. Her media include pen and ink with watercolor, pastel and acrylic.

Door County Interiors & Design exclusively carries limited edition giclee prints of Miller Knutson’s “Your Door County.” The lively painting, completed in pen, ink and watercolor, shows quintessential Door County: activities ranging from art fairs and horseback riding to eating ice cream and fish boils. Also depicted are parks, coastal towns and lighthouses.
