Walker Appoints Papke to Wisconsin Judicial Commission

Bob Papke of Sturgeon Bay has been appointed to the Wisconsin Judicial Commission by Gov. Scott Walker. The Judicial Commission’s main duties include the investigation and prosecution of possible misconduct or disabilities on the part of court judges and court commissioners. The Judicial Commission jurisdiction extends to more than 500 judges, including justice of the Supreme Court, appellate and circuit judges. Papke said he was honored to serve as the governor’s appointee and as a citizen member. He previously served from 1993 to 2001 on the Judicial Commission as an appointee of then-Gov. Tommy Thompson, including four years at vice chair and chair. Papke has been a member of the governor’s Property Tax Commission and is a former elected county supervisor, county clerk and the first appointed administrative coordinator for Door County. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, former Sturgeon Bay police officer, co-owner of Pine Crest Village Assisted Living and is a partner in the development of Westwood Shores Resort. Papke is a graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School, NWTC-Green Bay, past president of Sturgeon Bay Rotary Club and past chair of the Door County Economic Development Corp. He is director of the Door County Visitor Bureau and trustee of the Bayside Cemetery Association.
