What To Do In Door County This Weekend: April 10 – 12

April is in full swing, bringing with it a need to start enjoying spring! Here are our top picks for the weekend ahead:

Friday, April 10

Campfire at the Council Ring at Crossroads at Big Creek: Participants can roast marshmallows or make pudgy pies. Take the trail to the Astronomy Campus to get to the Council Ring, which is just beyond the long bridge. Free.

Children’s Crafts at Sturgeon Bay Library: Kids ages 3-12: get creative with spring flowers this afternoon. Try some fun, easy flower projects and make a colorful bouquet. Supplies and ideas are provided. Families are welcome.

Johannes Wallmann Jazz Ensemble at Benny D’z: Enjoy a modern twist on jazz from the 1950s and 1960s with the final Door Concerts, Inc. concert of 2014-15. Option dinner at 6pm. Concert starts at 7pm.

“The Golden Age of Comedy 2” at The Depot: Classic comedy skits from the TV series of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Family entertainment.

Saturday, April 11

Door/Kewaunee Science & Engineering Festival at Southern Door Schools: Featuring Mind Trekkers. Promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) awareness and providing area youth with a fun opportunity to experience STEM phenomena. Free.

International Migratory Bird Day Celebration at Algoma Youth Club: Celebration with bird walk and Arbor Day tree planting. 8:45 a.m. “Feathered Friends” slideshow by Bob Kuhn. 10 a.m. “Why Birders Should Appreciate Spiders and their Kin” by Dr. Michael Draney. 11:15 a.m. “Safe Lawns” by Patrick Fitzgerald. Birding and gardening vendors and displays. Food and refreshments. Free admission.

R.A.C.E. Car Show at Draft Haus: Car show featuring modifieds, sport mod, stock cars, hobby stocks, street stock, thunder trucks, go carts, motorcycles, original, rat rods, and customs. Silent auction, booze coolers, food, beverages and more. Live music by DJ John Welch, Centerline, Modern Day Drifters, The John Welch Band and more. 4 p.m. Trophies awarded. This year’s honoree is Wounded Warrior Project and local Veteran organizations. Rain or shine.

Sunday, April 12

Karen Mal, Laurie McClain, & David Stoddard at TAP: Enjoy an afternoon of singer-songwriters on the Third Avenue stage.
