What’s Coming Up In Door County?

• Maureen Murphy will start as the county’s new administrator on Oct. 1. The County Board unanimously voted Murphy in as County Administrator at its Aug. 28 board meeting. Murphy, who has a wealth of administrative experience and currently works as Village Administrator in Slinger, appeared at the meeting and spoke briefly before the vote.

“So far it’s been all about me…but after you take the vote today it’s not going to be about me anymore,” she said. “It becomes about us.”

Murphy will take over from Interim Administrator and Corporation Counsel Grant Thomas.

• At its Sept. 5 meeting, the Liberty Grove town board will discuss the purchase of new property to use as a new welcome center. The property the economic sustainability committee recommended to the board is a parking lot owned by the Czepulonis family and the adjacent property owned by Dean Johnson. The meeting will take place at 7 pm at the town hall.
