What’s Coming Up in Door County?

• The League of Women Voters of Door County will host a State Assembly candidate forum at Sturgeon Bay City Hall on Oct. 18 at 7 pm. Assembly candidates Garey Bies and Patrick Veeser will both be attending the forum.

The forum is not a debate, but a chance for the public to ask questions and receive answers from each candidate. The forum will also be broadcast using public access television. For more information, contact Barbara Graul at 920.743.6842 or Shirley Senarighi at 920.743.1691.

• Amendments to the Baileys Harbor Smart Growth Plan will be up for discussion at a special town hall meeting at 6 pm on Oct. 11. Jeff Sanders of Community Planning and Consulting will present highlights from the plan and gather feedback from those in attendance.

• A 2013 budget work session will be held at the Jacksonport Town Hall on Oct. 15 at 6:30 pm.

• An Oct. 3, 6:30 pm, meeting at the Pamperin Park Dance Hall in Green Bay will allow Door County residents to have a potential say in how some housing rehabilitation funds are spent.

Brown County, on behalf of the Northeastern Wisconsin Community Development Block Grant Housing Consortium, will be applying to the Wisconsin Department of Administration – Division of Housing for a grant to fund housing rehabilitation projects and promote construction jobs in Northeastern Wisconsin.

Door County is one of 10 counties involved in the consortium. The grant money being applied for can be used to provide home improvement loans to low and moderate-income homeowners and those who rent to low and moderate income renters.
