Where It Began

The Baileys Harbor Historical Society’s next event will focus on the history of the Bjِrklunden chapel and estate, as well as the Boyntons who created it all.

On Aug. 21 at 6 pm, the grounds of Bjِrklunden, located at 7590 Boynton Lane off Highway 57 just south of Baileys Harbor, will be open for participants to explore. The property includes six buildings people can view, and some will be open to tour.

At 7 pm, executive director Mark Breseman will give a presentation telling the history of the estate and of the Boyntons. After the presentation there will be a docent led tour of the chapel and grounds. A special invitation goes out to past employees such as maids, builders, cooks, gardeners, caretakers and anyone who has been employed by the Boyntons to come and share their history with Bjِrklunden.

The Baileys Harbor community quilt will also be on display and raffle tickets available. Treats and refreshments will be served.
