Workshop Offers Pressure Canning Tips

On November 6 from 9 am – 12:30 pm, the Door County UW-Extension will offer a hands-on education workshop for beginning or experienced home canners entitled “Pressure Canning Venison Products.” Participants of the workshop will learn or update their skills on how to pressure can meat products easily and safely at home.

Participants will learn how to use a pressure canner while preserving venison ‘Sloppy Joes’ and chili (or hamburger ‘Sloppy Joes’ and chili if there is no venison available by the workshop date).

Participants will take home 3 – 4 pints of product and a copy of the UW-Extension publication, Canning Meat, Wild Game, Poultry and Fish Safely.

The workshop will be held at NWTC, 229 N. 14th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. Cost for the class, including all materials, is $15. Checks can be made payable to Door County UW-Extension. Mail check with name, address, and phone number to Door County UW-Extension, 421 Nebraska Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 by November 2.
