Yachtworks Routs Bowl for Broomball Title

The champs.

At least they showed.

After falling victim to scheduling problems that sapped the team of its best players for the tournament in 2007, the Sister Bay Bowl broomball team was out to prove its mettle at this year’s Hilander Cup tournament, but Yachtworks had other plans.

The Bowl started the day at the Theresa K. Hilander Community Ice Rink Feb. 24 by beating up on a spirited but overmatched Pulse squad 6 – 2. It was a different story later, however, as they couldn’t get on the board against Freddy Bexel and the Yachtworks squad, who took home their second straight Hilander Cup in dominating fashion, shutting out the Bowl 6 – 0.

Earlier, Yachtworks knocked out a tough Horseshoe Bay team 2-0 to start the day, while JJ’s took out Blue Horse 2-1. The Bowl defeated JJ’s to reach the final, but didn’t have enough left in the tank to overcome the regular season champs.
