In September, which is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, the Door County YMCA will be open to families free of charge in order to promote fitness and physical activity for the whole family. Any family can visit the Y on Saturdays (starting September 1) and use the facility for free.
The Y will also host “Family Fitness FREE Day” on Sept. 15 at the Sturgeon Bay Program Center. Families are invited to the Y from 10 am until 3 pm for a day of activities designed to encourage healthy lifestyle choices for all ages. Activities include an outdoor obstacle course, Trikkes riding (for ages 10-plus), use of the waterslide and pool, and the cooking demonstration, “Healthy Snacks when Mom and Dad Aren’t Home.”
