PMF’s February Fest Puts On Three Concerts in Three Weeks
The Peninsula Music Festival will present three concerts in three weeks during February. The annual February Fest will once again feature members of the Festival’s orchestra in the intimate setting of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church. The 2 pm concerts will take place on Feb. 13, 20 and 27. All three concerts can be purchased for just $60 or purchased individually at $25 each. Students and children are just $5.
PMF concertmaster Igor Yuzefovich and Principal Viola Joan DerHovsepian team up for the opening concert on Feb. 13. The concert will feature the music of Mozart, Villa-Lobos and Handel. DerHovsepian is the associate principal concertmaster of the Houston Symphony. In addition to an afternoon of wonderful music, concertgoers will be able to bid on Golf with the Concertmaster and Lunch with the Concertmaster.
The second concert of the 2016 February Fest on Feb. 20 will feature Principal Oboe Eric Olson and his wife, violist Ellen Olson. Arriving from Jacksonville, Florida, the duo, along with PMF pianist Judith Jackson will present a program featuring the music of Shatin, Beethoven, Clarke, Loeillet, Loeffler, Shulman and Saint-Saens.
The 2016 February Fest will come to a close on Feb. 27 with music inspired by the book The Light Keeper’s Legacy by Kathleen Ernst. This concert is a joint effort with Write On, Door County. The concert will include the music of Nielsen, Grieg, Berwald, Sibelius and Gade and will feature violinists Janet Sutter and Karen Nelson, both of the PMF orchestra as well as PMF pianist Judith Jackson. Local cellist Lori Meyer will be featured on the final piece of the afternoon. Ernst will be in Door County and will attend the concert where she will read excerpts from The Light Keeper’s Legacy at the start of the concert and at the short break prior to the second half. She will be available to sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase at the concert.
Brief receptions will follow each concert. For full program details and reservations, call 920.854.4060 or visit musicfestival.com.
